Ben Green is a producer, engineer, mixer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Washington, D.C. He lives in Arlington with his wife, cat; and an unfortunately large collection of old cars, single malt scotch, and grey shirts. He is the owner of Ivakota Studios in Capitol Hill, and a producer and engineer at Blue Room Productions in Herndon VA, which he helped to design and construct. He is also an avid educator, and teaches courses in-studio on engineering, production, and recording philosophy.
In his early years, Ben toured the United States as a founding member of Fairweather—who established themselves as landmarks in the early 2000s punk revival. As such, Ben brings the unique experience of having performed nearly one thousand concerts—alongside over a decade of in-studio and location-based engineering to the Blue Room Studio team.
He approaches recording through a musician’s lens, providing clients with relatability and critical insight; advanced technique in documenting vibrant performances; and philosophical passion in arranging music, which has characterized him as a “staple in the DC recording world.” Selected past clients include:- Benjy Ferree, Ex Hex, His Dream Of Lions, Milo In The Doldrums, Black Masala, Des Demonas, Jonny Grave,Lauren Calve, Loud Boyz, and Black Dog Prowl.
Ben also started the Book Club project with his wife Marissa Long—a literary-based musical and visual prompt for musicians and visual artists—with events occuringyear-round, and generously contributes to local DC charities.
